Sixty metres is the widest span a pitched-roof CFS system reaches. Beyond it the form itself has to change — the barrel vault systems take over from there.
At this step the appearance of the structure changes too: instead of a heavy conventional portal, a deep and dense lattice network becomes legible. As the scale grows the sections do not thicken; the number of members and the truss depth increase. What carries the load is not the thickness of a single section but the geometry of the frame.
That is also why uses such as aircraft hangars, congress centres and exhibition buildings gather at this step: in all of them the interior volume has to be a single piece.
